Site Redesign
Back
To re-platform our current Irish site and UK site to The E-commerce platform Shopify.
Background
After years of being on an old CMS, it has been decided that we will move over to Shopify. This involves moving our entire site including products, patient records and data as well as the consultation journeys and checkout. The patient record also has to sync with our VideoGP so that patients do not lose any records. The Shopify move means we get updates regularly and are able to build an entire component library, something we didn’t have before. It also gives us a chance to refresh the look and feel of the old and outdated website.
Collaboration, Design and Agile Working
Collaboration across the team is critical to these two big projects. The first part of the project (the smaller Irish site) was kicked off first. We work in incremental and iterative agile sprints, led by product managers, an agile coach and stakeholders. We have stand ups every morning to catch up with what everyone is working on. On this call I am present as lead designer and I update on designs and listen to any dev questions. If there is anything we need to collaborate on we normally jump on a call and make live amends on Figma. We also use Miro a lot to plan sprints and hold retro sessions to talk about what worked and what didn’t in the previous sprint. The team present the result of the sprint every two weeks to the wider team and stakeholders including GPs, clinicians and the CEO. Feedback is given and work is planned around this for the next sprint.
